The Eagle's Boss is back

The Eagle's Boss is back
Stephen Keshi
The 53-year old Super Eagles boss has finally and officially returned as the Eagles coach. He signed a two-year contract today in Abuja, after ten months of uncertainty over his future with the Super Eagles. If we could recall, Keshi’s previous contract ended after the World Cup in Brazil, where he took Nigeria to the second round as they lost to France.

Keshi had initially been asked to work on a per-game basis during the country’s unfortunate qualifying campaign for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, however, this did not yield a desired result. His contract is expected to last till 2017 and would be determined by his success or failure in the AFCON qualifiers and the tournament in Gabon.

One notable achievement of Keshi was that he led the Super Eagles to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, 19 years after he last lifted it as a player. It is worthy of note to also mention that Keshi's former assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi have been dropped and replaced by former Kano Pillars coach Salisu Yusuf.

Keshi after signing his new two year contract said, "we lost in the past, we drew and we won. But we have to move forward now. This is a new page in Nigerian football and what happened in the past has happened. I have what it takes to take the country forward. We need the media. I cannot do this alone. I will work with office of the NFF to move our football forward"

As a lover of sports, I hope we finally get it right with our football. One thing we have to start looking at now is how to get prepared for this tournaments. Contract signing has ended, so it is time to plan ahead.
