I Am a woman

I get into an argument with a man, he slaps me, I feel the pain, yet they tell me I provoked him. I should have been quiet, I should have been patient. I should apologize to him.

THE LOST REALITY ( PART 1)

All I remember of the outside world now is I was once innocent before they came. That innocence was the only history I had left as a memory.
My life took this turn in 2010 when the BOKO SQUAD first attacked Nigeria I was just seventeen years of age. A team of heavily armed uniformed Men stormed my school like rushing volcanoes at the odd of 23:00hrs; we were marched into the chapel from our dormitories. St. Francis of Assisi college was the most reputable in Benue state and in all her years of existence had she ever felt the dire and horror of the night’s suspense.
My principal, a priest of the Roman Catholic Church despite wearing his white cassock was not taken notice of; we were all gripped with fear. It would take God’s intervention for our deliverance.
The commander broke the silence and ended the suspense. He asked the most unexpected question, the answer which he claim will save us the trouble if we can provide him with the lamb of sacrifice he needs that is, a scape-goat with a unique and distinct character in the school. Hearing this our eyes began to scan ourselves for the self professed smart ones, but got the shocker when he demanded for the dumbest and laziest in the school. We all could not hold off the amusement of that hilarious question as the whole gathering except our captors burst into a tumultuous laughter but it was short-lived when the commander’s voice echoed with unrepentant horror; I will not repeat myself again.
The verdict had long before this night been passed, there was no need to look through the crowd for the whole school knew just the right person for this prestigious recognition even I, know it was ME! I was the dumbest and school-professed laziest kid in the all-boys citadel of learning, St. Francis of Assisi College.
When others were recognized for good grades by the school and awarded prizes at prize giving day, I’m being nominated for a death sentence because I’m not smart. Fear, sadness, and embarrassment filled my soul as the whole assembly gave me up as a lamb led to the slaughter, without beauty and majesty I walked to the commander whose eye bore no empathy or compassion towards me at all.
Who would I blame for my predicament, would anyone had plead my cause---NO! The picture of my parent and siblings sad faces was engraved in my soul, how would they survive this? Forever the name Oteke Brown would be struck out from the book of the living. I was taken never to return.
Wakey! Wakey!! Sergeants y’all report to the common room ASAP. It dawned on me I was having my regular dream, the memory of the night I was taken still haunts me. Other sergeants from various part of Nigeria who were taken like me were all in the common room waiting for our order. We were no longer the dumb ass teenagers chosen for not being smart. We are what we are now-----SUPER HUMANS. I am Sergeant Oteke Brown Code Alpha, Emerald, Ouroboros (A.E.O) 1646.
Chosen to prove something to the world, what that is I don’t know. However, for dull and lazy teenagers to be taken and made into what we are today, defies the logic of human reasoning.
My comrades and I were products of a military scientific experiment, with intelligence above a human genius reasoning capacity of 130 IQ, high speed and one hundred percent accuracy far more than an average genius could dream of. I am proud of what I have become; when I look myself in the mirror, I see perfection. My regret were the fact that since we came into this facility we have not been given the luxury of seeing the golden morning sun rise or stare at the sea of silver stars in the night skies, the buzzing of the spring flies or the chirping of birds, I miss nature’s touch. We have been cut off from the world and its time, and not fraternizing with anything or anyone outside the comfort of the common room. No windows, no doors that we know of and it’s just like a prison but with comfort and a sense of purpose yet I long for the forbidden fruit-----Natures touch.
The other sergeants have come to terms with their fate but not me. I feel stuck as if in a prison without hope for a parole. Aye gentlemen the voice of the facility commandant brought my thought back to reality----I want to see you all become Adam for today’s physical examination the commander ordered in a stern voice but with a humorous demeanour as we complied immediately by taking off every piece of our clothing standing stark naked as we were examined. We stood like the gladiators of Rome being examined before going into the arena, my muscles shot out like a fallen meteorite from outer space, my chest hardening like that of my hero Hercules and my packs were perfect as if made with the golden dust of Olympus. However, in all I still feel empty because it’s useless if there is none to admire these built except me.
We have worked so hard trying to be mentally and physically fit to meet the purpose of our being here. We know there is a higher purpose but we have not been told a word about it since we arrived as teenagers, now even without a calendar or watch I know I am no more a teenager yet all these years of training we have not been found worthy of the mission we were chosen for? Why bother I’m already dead to my loved ones.
We were all in the common room after the first physical drill taking our mental simulation with different kind of mind enhancement technologies; my favourite is the near life simulation video game because it’s enlightening and fun. I jumped to my feet together with other sergeants as the bugle sounded this means we are being called to attention for an important information and instruction. We stood at attention awaiting the instruction or information when the three august visitors walked in, I saw him. I felt lost not knowing if to punch him in the face or hug him-----I mean for Goodness sake he recruited me. He looked unrepentant, as he was when we first met still looking stern as ever without a trace of smile. His military attire was threateningly beautiful and nicely fitted, his camouflage was well starched and neatly pressed with razored gator on the trousers, and the black jackboot was shiny as if a mirror reflecting the light of a fluorescent. He was like an apparition standing with his velvet-green military beret and his red rank of five silver stars, it dawned on me that he is a five star General of the Nigerian army. The unceremonious entrance he led to my school was actually a covert operation that would never be traced to the military hence ensuring a plausible deniability.
The second guest is also smart but younger than the General was and less sternly looked; he is a lieutenant General and part of the recruiters. The third is our host and scientist in charge of the experiment and we rarely see him unlike the other scientist but he is the brain behind the progress we have made so far. He looks so unkempt in his lab coat and his hair uncombed-----his reputation precedes him, no shoe on his feet and there is no difference between Dr. T and Albert Einstein. Dr. T was an opposite of the two uniformed men; this trio as far as our stay and the military are concerned were legends.
While we wait for the address, a sudden flash of enlightenment came on me. We were being made into the image of these trio, with the intelligence of Dr. T and the sophistication of the military in war and combat we will be invincible and unstoppable, a slyly smile crossed my face as I received this new wisdom in thought.

Ways you can please a Nigerian man

This article was written by etcetara, the singer turned writer. See the article below.

1. Submission has got a bad rap in recent years. The feminist movement has even made matters worse. Women are forgetting that submission wasn’t your man’s idea, it was God’s. “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:22) Again the Word says, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord.” (Colossians 3:18). Men should also know that submission does not mean subjection to abuse. Submission simply implies respect for another’s authority.

2. Every Nigerian man loves food. I mean the actual food. There’s no such thing as a modern or old fashion way. A way is a way and the only way to a typical African man’s heart has always been through his stomach. Coming home from a long day’s work, we enjoy nothing better than a well cooked meal. Remember the story of Esau in the Bible? He was so hungry and was practically shaking after working in the fields that he was willing to sell his birthright to his brother Jacob for a hot bowl of soup! (Genesis 25:29-34). Ladies, when a Nigerian man is not properly fed, he becomes irrational, irritable and vulnerable to temptation. Feed us well not just for anything else, but so you may have peace in the house.

3. Now ladies, ask any Nigerian man to choose between a delicious plate of soup and no sex or a tasteless meal and a mind-blowing sex, he will prefer to drink garri without sugar and have that mind-blowing encounter with you in bed. Does that tell you something? Babes, you may be everything from smart, charming with long pretty legs and even God-fearing but if your husband doesn’t find you sexually attractive, SHIKENA. A Nigerian man always wants that thing. So, stop holding back whenever he wants it. Adopt the Boy Scout motto that says “always be prepared.” Stop using your sexuality to manipulate or punish him. Our greatest vulnerability is our sexuality, so don’t just go there – No games with that please. Give yourself to him freely every time, every way and everywhere. The Bible commands you, “Deprive not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your lack of self-control.” (1 Corinthians 7:5). Did you hear that? It says even after fasting, you should still give it to him…. Hmmmmm! I love the Bible. No wonder they call it the “perfect book.”

4. All men want to be successful. But it is so unfortunate that most Nigerian women measure success by what a man has accomplished and not by who he is as a person. It is the role of the woman to help her man see the big picture in life, not through the eyes of someone who wants to purchase every latest trend in fashion, mobile phones and cars. The good book of the lord says, “Better is the poor (man) who walks in his integrity than one perverse in his ways, though he be rich.” (Proverbs 28:6). So, ladies, always let your man know when he is doing a good job. Praise him for his patience with words like, “I really appreciate that you helped me with the dishes today.” “Thanks so much for emptying the dustbin; I appreciate you honey, even in the small things.” Note that a little compliment to a Nigerian man every now and again works like magic.

5. Nigerian men are driven by the need for significance. We often ask ourselves this question, “Do I really matter to her?” A man’s thirst for significance can only be quenched in knowing how important he is. That is why we will chase after every vain pursuit only to hear the words, “You matter. You are important. You are appreciated. You are significant.” If a man never heard these words or sensed this approval from his woman, he can spend his whole life chasing someone else who will value his identity.

6. Support your man at every turn. Be there for him to guide him. This is God’s command for you as the woman. God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18). A man needs help in the small things like finding our car keys or in bigger things like building a business. It has become one of the most popular sayings that “behind every great man is a far greater woman.” Your man needs your intuitive, instinctive, perceptive and discerning insights when making decisions. But as his woman, you should be careful so as not to bruise his ego. A man is not molded to understand the emotional and dynamics behind the problems that women face. So it is important that the woman doesn’t go running and pouring all her cares, worries, fears, insecurities and troubles on him all at once, it can be very overwhelming. If it is your car that is making that funny noise or something in the house is broken, YESSSSS! he knows exactly what to do instantly. Every man requires that extra training to be a good listener and you will have to working at it until he is there. You can simply start by asking him to listen to you for one minute without interruption and gradually build up his tolerance level. If you throw a fifteen-minute monologue at him, he will freeze up, walk away or get annoyed. Make things simple for him. Spell out exactly what you need, even if it is just a simple hug (and you may want to also explain to him that a hug does not mean you want to have sex!)… because e nor dey hard us to conclude. lol…
7. Every man wants to come home to a peaceful house after a long day at work. But our women don’t always permit such a luxury. We want tranquility and control in every aspect of our lives; that is why we sometimes do everything possible to create an atmosphere of peace and serenity. It is also why every man dreads a nagging woman. A nagging woman drains us of body vitamins and morale. If you nag your man, he will distance himself emotionally and possibly even physically. The Bible says, “It is better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, than in a house shared with a contentious woman.” (Proverbs 25:24).

Never allow the means of productivity becomes means of destruction

"In 1923, nine of the wealthiest people in the world met at Chicago's Edge Water Beach Hotel. Their combined wealth, it is estimated, exceeded the wealth of the Government of the United States at that time. These men certainly knew how to make a living and accumulate wealth. Attending the meeting were the following men:
1. The president of the largest steel company;
2. The president of the largest utility company; 3. The president of the largest gas company; 4. The president of the New York Stock Exchange; 5. The president of the Bank of International Settlements; 6. The greatest Wheat Speculator; 7. The greatest "bear" on Wall Street;
8. The head of the World's greatest monopoly, and
9. A member of President Harding's cabinet.
That's a pretty impressive line-up of people by anyone's yardstick. Yet, 25 years later, where were those nine industrial giants?

Let’s examine what happened to them 25 years later:

1. The president of the then largest steel company (Bethlehem Steel Corp), Charles M Schwab, lived on borrowed capital for five years before he died bankrupt;
2. The president of the then largest gas company, Howard Hubson, went insane;
4. Then president of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was sent to jail;
3. One of the greatest commodity traders (Wheat Speculator), Arthur Cutten, died insolvent;
6. The greatest “bear” on Wall Street, Jesse Livermore committed suicide;
5. The member of US President Harding's cabinet, Albert Fall, was pardoned from jail just to be able to go home and die in peace; 7. The president of the then world’s greatest monopoly, Ivar Krueger, also killed himself;
What those people forgot was how to "make life” while they got busy making money! Money in itself is not evil; it provides food for the hungry, medicine for the sick, clothes for the needy. However, money is only a medium of exchange. We need two kinds of education: One that teaches us how to make a living and another that teaches us how to live. There are many of us who are so engrossed in our professional life that we neglect our family, health and social responsibilities. If asked why we do this, we would reply that "we are doing it for our family". Yet, our kids are sleeping when we leave home. And they are sleeping when we come back home! Twenty years later, we’ll turn back, and they’ll all be gone, to pursue their own dreams and their own lives.
8. The president of the Bank of International Settlement, Leon Fraser, equally took his own life; 9. The president of the largest utility company, Samuel Insull, died penniless.
Without water, a ship cannot move. But if the water gets into the ship, the ship will face disaster. What was once productive for the ship now becomes destructive. Similarly, we live in a time where earning is a necessity but let it not enter our hearts, so that what was once a means of living may not become a means of destruction for us as well.

So take a moment and ask yourself: "Has the water entered my ship?"

Check out an open letter someone wrote to her best friend

When we have plans to hang out, it gives me something to look forward to all week.And when anything goes wrong, you’re the first person I think to call.Because you always know exactly what I need to hear to feel better.And you give me incredible advice because you usually know what I want better than I do.All my best memories involve you.Which is why 90% of our conversations start with “Remember that one time…” followed by something really dumb.You’ve asked me some of the toughest questions I’ve ever been asked. And I learn something from you every time we hang out.I’m grateful to you for not judging me when I make awful decisions.And for having my back when those decisions come back to haunt me.You’re legitimately one of the smartest people I've ever met.

This is basically the scariest thought I ever have: It’s awesome that I feel totally comfortable crying like a baby around you.My parents and siblings consider you a part of the family.This was the luckiest moment of my life: Thank you for sharing cool things with me.And for having more faith in me than I generally have in myself.You've helped me face my fears, no matter how irrational.And you've supported my dreams, no matter how ridiculous And I’ll always have your back, even when I don’t want to. And I probably couldn't live without you. Phew. Glad that’s out of the way. Good talk,buddy. Now let’s pretend this never happened and go back to playing’ it cool. I love you Babes

Happy workers day

If I may ask: Are you toiling or working? To toil is to exert strength with pain and fatigue i guess of body or mind. It's a “labour that comes with pain and fatigue”; “labour that oppresses the body or mind.” Labour means hard and exhausting. Toiling is spending or sapping emotional and physical energies. Toiling is slavery. Toiling is a course. But, Working is not a curse. Working is doing what God had created you to do; doing what you have a passion to do. You can’t wait to get to work; you feel energized during and after work. Working is living out the mandate of God in creation. INCREASE and MULTIPLY. SUBDUE THE EARTH & BE LORD and MASTER OF ALL CREATED THINGS.

There are three basic needs in life: Love, Purpose and Significance.; and I believe that work ties all three together. Working is to be done without GRUDGES, in a way that produces the highest quality outcome possible. Work is designed to be productive and rewarding. Let me humbly ask you to consider the idea that toil was designed to keep you labouring for provision. We become afraid that if we don’t toil, or stop toiling, that we will lose our provision....like erroneously inspired PROSTITUTES, ROBBERS, DRUG BARONS and HUMAN TRAFFICKERS, ETC. We are living proof that the exact opposite is true. AN IDLE MIND IS A DEVIL'S WORKSHOP. Which means, the Devil works in your life when you are not working. Do you know that both God and Devil work? Do you know that Jesus was a Carpenter? Paul was a Tent Maker? Peter was a Fisherman Matthew was a Tax collector? Luke was a Doctor? Etc. Please, work to earn a good living. If you don't work, don't eat! But work with dignity and be proud and happy with your job.

QUESTIONS:
So, I ask you again:
Are you toiling or are you working?
Are you doing any work at all or are you lazy, poke nosing and gossiping others?
What type of work are you doing - good or bad moral or immoral?
Are you really living out the mandate of God in your life?
Do you have PEACE and JOY in your work?
Are you really fulfilled in that work you are doing?
Are you sure?
Please, Think! Think!! Think!!!
For, doing Divinely inspired work brings fulfillment, favours, success, joy, abundance and peace.
