I saw this question on an article written by Stephen Akindayomi and I decided to share it with you and also to know your opinion about
this. For me I really do not see anything wrong in a christian using In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to have children especially when you can afford it.
IVF is the process by which eggs are removed
from your ovaries and mixed with sperm in a
laboratory culture dish. Fertilization takes place
in this dish, “in vitro”, which means “in glass”.
Thousands of IVF babies have been born since
the first in 1978. In 1977, Louise Brown was conceived in a petri
dish with the assistance of Doctors Steptoe and
Edwards in the UK. She was born 25th July 1978
as the first “test tube baby in the world.” IVF
treatment is widely used in the UK, where slightly
more than 1% of babies born are made that way.
It is legal, but should infertile Christian couple go
down this route to secure a child.
Many Christian have asked me if IVF is
acceptable.
Do you think Christian couple’s going through IVF are
trying to help God, while they are suppose to be
waiting on God to give them babies? Your critical opinion please.
