Goodluck urge Nigerians to be patient with INEC in collating the election results

The President of the republic of Nigeria also took to his facebook page to urge Nigerians to be patient with INEC in collating the election results. He said, 'we waited patiently to vote in these elections, now I want to urge all Nigerians to also wait patiently for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to collate and announce results. We must ensure that we do not get involved in acts that breach our peaceful co-existence that we patriotically demonstrated during the elections. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ'. 

Truly, I have seen on social media so many results that are not officially from INEC. Everyone is indeed anxious for the result of the exercise, however, I feel the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC should be allowed to do its job. We therefore must wait for the official release of the results from INEC and should desist from circulation of speculations.

Fake results on social network by APC members- PDP National Publicity Secretary

This was a press statement released by the PDP national publicity secretary. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged Nigerians to totally disregard misleading figures being circulated by the All Progressives Congress in the social media as results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some polling booths. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh today said the figures were “fake and do not represent the true results which are currently being collated by INEC, the only body authorized to release and announce results”.

He further noted that the APC in its desperation for power has resorted to posting fake results in the social media in a bid to ambush the electoral commission, mislead the unsuspecting public to believe it is winning, all in furtherance of its grand plot to cause confusion and set the stage for violence when the authentic results are finally released.

“We therefore alert Nigerians to be on their guard and close ranks in resisting the APC’s plot to plunge the nation into chaos and anarchy. Our democracy has come to stay and the will of the people must prevail over and above the parochial ambition of a selfish few. Finally, we strongly caution the APC against its acts of desperation and use of dishonest methods including physical attacks against our members and supporters as these pose great threat to our democracy, the unity and stability of our dear nation", Mr Metuh said

2015 Election: INEC Extends Voting Into Sunday Due to Card Reader Flaw

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC have extended the voting process into Sunday following stations which had technical issues. INEC have directed its electoral officials to use manual accreditation for those that could not get accredited. However, some have reported that failure to get accredited was due to the protective film covering the lens of the reader. The INEC national commissioner, Chris Eyimoga told journalists in Abuja that the resort to manual accreditation is to ensure that the presidential election is credible, free and fair. This directive follows the challenges associated with the use of the card readers. 

Reports also coming in from different polling stations have attested to the peaceful conduction of the elections with the exception of the bomb scare in Enugu state and also the death of an individual in Rivers state. Other minor crisis that arose in some polling stations were quelled by the security operatives. Such was a man arrested with 300 snatched PVCs in Ebonyi state. It is worthy of note to mention that key politicians also cast their votes. Prof Yemi Osinbajo votes in Lagos state, President Goodluck Jonathan votes in Otuoke, Bayelsa state, Vice president Namadi Sambo votes in Kaduna state while General Muhammadu Buhari votes in Daura, Katsina state.

Overall, sources say people are excited and determined, turn out was good and the exercise across various polling stations were very peaceful. In fact, despite the rain at Opebi, Lagos state, people still turned out to cast their votes. Also, states like Yobe and Borno state participated in the exercise. For me, the election has not been a failure so far, however, INEC still need to get things right for subsequent elections. Card reader hitches could have been speculated and ways to resolve such problems would have been explored prior to the elections. As at the time of filing this report, the exercise had been concluded in many of the polling stations and counting was under way.

Bomb Blast in Enugu State

A Honda saloon car bomb explosion at the WTC Primary School polling booth in Enugu North LGA at about 7:38 Saturday has just been reported. As at the time of the report, there were no casualty recorded. Experts from the bomb squad have dismantled the second bomb which was timed to explode during the voting and detonated it at 8:45. As shocking as it might be, there was a third device which detonated at 9:05.

The fire accident destroyed so many cars on the road, although the fire service was not there on time but on their arrival, they were able to contain the fire. Election result is out! Very funny

I found this hilarious picture on my friends 'display picture' and it got me laughing hard. People could just be funny at times. How can elections that are yet to be conducted have a result already. Gov. Rotimi Amaechi's deputy, Ikuru switch to PDP

There appears to be a crack in the ranks of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State as the Deputy Governor  of the state, Mr. Tele Ikuru announced his defection from APC to the Peoples Democratic Party today. Mr. Ikuru, who has worked with Mr. Rotimi Amaechi for about eight years may be received by President Goodluck Jonathan at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt tomorrow. The news of Mr. Ikuru’s defection is coming barely six days to the presidential election.

Mr Ikuru had in a statement in Port Harcourt on Sunday described the APC as party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists clothed in robes of pretense and deceit. The deputy governor was said to have been in a battle of supremacy with the state APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ikanya, who is from the same Andoni Local Government Area with him. Ikuru was said to have gone to Andoni to conclude his movement from the ruling party to the PDP, even as APC camp in the state remained shocked over the development.

When asked what was responsible for the deputy governor's sudden departure from the party, it was reported that a source in Government House said the governor had no problem with his deputy. The source further added that the political influence of the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Uche Secondus, could not be ruled out as the major reason why the deputy governor left the party.

Ikuru added in his statement on Sunday that if it could be recall in December 2013, out of extreme loyalty to his boss and friend, he joined the APC, along with other then disillusioned Rivers people and ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, he has continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. He further stated that the more he struggled to belong, the more the Rivers man in him rejects the APC. He was quoted as saying, “After carefully studying, interacting and analyzing the leadership of the party, I have come to the sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood"

I can only wish that the April 11 elections in Rivers state goes free, fair and credible, as the political system is just way too overheated.

As for me, I think this is a bit far, however, I guess many would want to argue that 'it is freedom of expression', without putting into consideration the psychological effect on the little ones running around. President Goodluck Jonathan went to campaign in Daura, Katsina state on Saturday. That part of the state happens to be the hometown of APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Following his visit, a photo surfaced on Instagram, depicting residents washing their roads with water. According to ‘Sheeedah’, who shared the picture on Instagram, “That is Daura, the hometown of Buhari in Katsina. Jonathan went their to campaign and the people washed the village immediately he left.” People with very funny attitude!

Corp members in Kebbi state are now being thought how to handle guns in other to help the soldiers and police, peradventure any attack is being caused by the Boko Haram. Does this mean that we do not have enough troops in the country again?

In a statement released by a corp member in Kebbi state. The corp member said they were given security tips on how to prevent and handle mishaps in the course of the elections. They will not however be given guns and ammunitions but in case the Boko boys decide to show their faces, corpers will be able to help the security agents. After all, we are all serving our father's land. The question is how many months training has he undergone to have the necessary skills to face the Boko boys?

Not only is Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka claiming that the president and his wife wants him dead but also he is accusing the police of not taking the threat seriously. "It is with a deep sense of concern that we are constrained to make this statement on the continued threat to the life of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka over his 2015 New Year message titled “From Good Luck to Bad Luck. 

The Enugu State Police Command has refuted claims by Fr. Mbaka that his life is in danger. It dismissed Fr. Mbaka’s outcry over threat to his life as baseless. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amarizu , DSP said the police do not have any report by Fr. Mbaka over threat to his life and have not received any complaint from him. On the backdrop of the above, one begins to wonder whether the alarm raised by Fr. Mbaka on an alleged plot to kill him was a mere rhetoric as the police had made it to appear merely because there has not been an official report to the police over it. 

Absence of a formal report on threat to one’s life doesn’t negate the reality of such threat more so when the victim had made a public outcry on the issue. To argue otherwise is akin to denying the fact of death in the face of a man’s corpse merely because there is no certificate certifying his death. Reports has it that on Wednesday, strange hoodlums in a black Hilux besieged his parish compound but they left disappointed when they could not see him.

Should christians use In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and other methods to have children?

I saw this question on an article written by Stephen Akindayomi and I decided to share it with you and also to know your opinion about this. For me I really do not see anything wrong in a christian using In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to have children especially when you can afford it.

IVF is the process by which eggs are removed from your ovaries and mixed with sperm in a laboratory culture dish. Fertilization takes place in this dish, “in vitro”, which means “in glass”. Thousands of IVF babies have been born since the first in 1978. In 1977, Louise Brown was conceived in a petri dish with the assistance of Doctors Steptoe and Edwards in the UK. She was born 25th July 1978 as the first “test tube baby in the world.” IVF treatment is widely used in the UK, where slightly more than 1% of babies born are made that way. It is legal, but should infertile Christian couple go down this route to secure a child. Many Christian have asked me if IVF is acceptable. Do you think Christian couple’s going through IVF are trying to help God, while they are suppose to be waiting on God to give them babies? Your critical opinion please.
