8 Fabulous Nigerian actors ageing with grace.

Some of the veteran Nolly wood actors we sit back and watch at home are actually aged men and women who have strong passion for the acting professional. Many of them are close to 70 years and above. Despite their advanced age, they love acting that they don’t want to quit. Ask them when they will retire and they will tell you artists don’t retire. Meet Nolly wood actors who are aged in the real term of it but not tired.

  1. Alex Usifo
Alex Usifo
He was born on 16 April 1953. He is popular for playing the role of a strict father. Osifo foray into acting started in the 7os when he was appointed as operation assistant at NTA, Benin. He is popular for his role in the TV series “Beyond The Dreams” which used to air on NTA. He has featured in over a 100 movies. He has done many TV series too.

He was born 7 March 1947. He is popularly known as Okonkwo for the role he played in the movie Things Fall Apart, an adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart in the 80s. He has been in the picture from the inception of Nollywood. Edochie has featured in over 100 movies and he is renowned for playing royal, rich and the wicked father, he is also popular for his use of Igbo proverbs in movies. He started out in life as a junior programme assistant at ABS in 1967. He rose to the level of deputy managing director before quitting broadcasting for movie.
  1. Oludotun Bayewu Jacobs
Olu Jacobs
Olu Jacobs as he is popularly known was born 1942.  He is a professional actor trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic arts, London.He has starred in several British television shows and series and international films.  He later retired home where he had featured in over 200 movies. He is happily married to actress Joke Silva.

Bukky Ajayi as she is fondly referred to was born on February 2, 1932. Mama Bukky Ajayi as she is fondly referred to studied drama at the Institute of Drama, London. She later worked a while in London before coming to Nigeria where she started a broadcasting career as an announcer, presenter and newscaster at Nigerian Television Authority. Ajayi was a part of the now rested TV series Village Headmaster.

She was born of February 3, 1941. She is an actress and a cosmetologist. She trained a trained journalist, actress. She is professionally trained in front and behind the camera qualifying as a TV producer/ presenter at the London School of Television production. She has featured in a many Nollywood movies and TV series.

Lere Paimo
He is popularly known as Eda Onileola or simply Baba Eda. He began acting in 1960 with Oyin Adejobi theatre group. He later joined Duro Ladipo theatre group under which he travelled far wide outside the country presenting several stage plays and winning many laurels.Paimo was born on September 19, 1939. He was honoured with national award MFR by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
  1. Alhaji Kareem Adepoju
Kareem Adepoju
He is popularly known as Baba Wande after his role in the movie Ti Oluwa Nile which was produced by him. Baba Wande started acting in 1963 with the Oyin Adejobi theater group. He celebrated his 52 years on stage in 2015. He is over 70 years of age.
Iya Rainbow
Iya Rainbow
She is fondly referred to as Mama Raibow after the theatre group started by her late husband Ayanfemi Phillips, Osumare (Rainbow) theatre group. She lost her husband in 1984 after being married only for 15 years. She was a registered nurse and worked with the General Hospitals which she combined with acting until 1986 when she took up acting fully. She has featured in many movies. She is 73-year-old.
